A six-day FIFA Futuro III referee course for technical and fitness instructors concluded on Thursday March 19, 2015. The event is one of three conducted annually throughout the CONCACAF Confederation sponsored by the FIFA Referee Assistance Program (RAP). The others are held for CONCACAF’s Spanish-speaking member associations and the smaller Caribbean countries.
Winston Wright is one of the TCIFA’s Senior Referee instructors specializing in instructing within the technical area. This is Mr. Wright’s second time attending the referee course. Randy Ford, however, is a multi-faceted individual, who also coaches track and field, and attended the referee course for the first time. Both candidates were highly recommended by the TCIFA and approved by FIFA.
The FUTURO III, is a highly intensive course, that focuses on the education of referee technical instructors. Additionally, the course provides the instructors information on developing and improving the fitness level of the referees within the region. These instructors, having participated in the Futuro III Referee course, were required to return to their various countries and, in turn, pass on the information gathered to other local referees, with the purpose of creating consistency in instruction and interpretation.
